The Canada Bangladesh Muslim Society (CBMS) held its Scholarship Distribution Ceremony in Dhaka on December 28, 2025, at SUROVI’s premises.
Mustafa Chowdhury, Afroza Chowdhury, and Shirin Zaman attended the event along with CBMS’s local representative, Ali Idris.
Chowdhury expressed his gratitude to SUROVI for organizing the event and encouraged the students to continue their studies despite all challenges. He wanted to hear from the students about their career plans as they advance in their education.
This year’s celebration featured several distinguished educators who spoke eloquently. They included Touhid Chowdhury, CEO of Chowdhury Consulting Firm Ltd.; Mahbubul Alm Shah, Secretary General of the Malaysia Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries; and Zahirul Islam, Principal of Savar College.
Clearly, their admonitory speeches were a source of inspiration to the young students.
CBMS awarded 135 scholarships to selected candidates. Each student will receive Taka 30000 in three installments. The recipients came from various districts across the country.
Abu Taher, SUROVI’s Executive Director, organized detailed arrangements for the program, which drew about 200 participants, including some legal guardians.
The distribution ceremony featured speeches from representatives of CBMS and SUROVI. Some students from SUROVI’s school performed a brief cultural program.
Additionally, a few students shared their experiences, spoke confidently, and expressed their determination to continue their studies, thanking CBMS for its financial support.
